Mee you adorable piece of shit. This entire morning (granted I woke up at noon) I've spent thinking about how weird it will be to leave our house and this ask has made my day. And dude! An entire year! We annoy each other relentlessly and somehow we've managed to continue talking almost on a daily basis for a year! That's insane. Especially seeing as how bad I am at keeping up conversations. In case anyways is a bit curious, her design again ties into me theory of the licorice tribe descending from the licorice sea

essentially parts of the see evolved into land creatures, much like some of the enemies we fight in the cacao kingdom. But my theory takes it a step further, where certain licorice creatures had more cognitive ability and evolved into cookie-esque creatures.

they use magic to give themselves a more cookie-like appearance, sort of similar to changelings from MLP. And there is a certain period of time each month where they become goopy creatures again to regain the mana and energy they spend on their appearance

Another detail I’d like to add is that their ties to the original sea will fade as they reach the end of their natural life spanned, which evolved to be shorter than a licorice creature, but still much longer than your normal baked cookie. Because of this aging, it explains why younger Liquorice Root is goopier compared to her Meemaw design.

I am interested in learning about meemaw licorice

meemaw liquorice, alongside the entire licorice tribe, is descended from the licorice sea. She is an older generation, making her closer to the mother sea, and therefore giving her slightly stranger abilities such as her prehensile hair

But why licorice gradmother hear are like that ?

I have a personal theory/headcanon that the licorice tribe ties into the licorice sea, kind of like the sea being the birth place of the tribe and whatnot. So certain cookies have weird abilities or traits that tie them back to it, and with Licorices grandma that trait is slightly goopy prehensile hair, that may or may not have a mouth sometimes
